"Free exercise means the public square is open and should not be sterilized, and when it is the only winners are the sterilizers. In effect, sterilization becomes the religious establishment."

About Hooverinvocation.org

Who we are

We believe in the following:

  • The the United States of America was founded by people who believed in God, the Creator.

  • That the founders wanted the citizens of this country to have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.

  • That freedom of religion is not the same as "freedom of worship", the new catch phrase used by the Obama Administration to isolate religion to churches, mosques, synagogues, and other places were there is religious worship.

  • That liberal courts have taken the First Amendment, and Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists (which contains the phrase "wall of separation between church and state"), out of context to suit their own agenda.

  • That groups such as the Freedom From Religion Foundation and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State have a right to exist, to express their viewpoints and opinions, but not to stop those who don't share their views from practicing their religion or praying openly.

  • That community standards should play a role in governmental decisions.

  • That participating in the invocation is voluntary.  If a member in the audience does not wish to participate, he or she may leave the room, or observe the invocation respectfully.  It is not meant to be offensive to them, nor should they be offended by a 230+ year-old practice.

  • That the invocation should be non-denominational, or, as an alternative, be open to all denominations.
